In development Snow Sleuth is still being made, so things may change, and the iPhone app isn’t out yet.

Snow Sleuth

Terms of service

Last updated 12 October 2026

The short version

Enjoy the puzzles and play fair. Things you buy are made through Apple and stay yours on your Apple Account. Snow Sleuth comes as it is, and if these terms change, this page will say so.

Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and the maker of Snow Sleuth (“we”, “us”). They cover the Snow Sleuth app, the game in your browser and snowsleuth.com. By using any of them, you accept these terms.

If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence for apps also applies: www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. These terms add to it.

Playing the game

Snow Sleuth is for your own enjoyment. Please don’t copy, sell or republish its puzzles, art or music, don’t try to break into or overload our server, and don’t use the game to cheat other players (for example by posting another day’s answers as your own results). Sharing your results with the Share button is very welcome.

The daily puzzle comes from our server, so it needs an internet connection. Packs are part of the app and play without one.

We keep improving the game, so things in it can change, including pieces, levels and the puzzles themselves.

Purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store and paid to Apple under Apple’s terms. The price is shown before you buy, in your own currency, and Apple may add taxes where you live.

Level packs and things to wear for your detective are one-time purchases: they stay yours on your Apple Account. On a new phone, or after deleting the app, use Settings → Restore purchases (or Restore on a pack’s purchase page) to get them back.

Completing the collection unlocks every pack that is out on the day you buy it. Packs that come out later are sold on their own; anyone who has every other pack can buy a new one at the collector price.

Hints are used up as you use them. There are no accounts yet, so hints you’ve bought stay on the phone you bought them on and don’t come back after the app is deleted.

Apple handles refunds: ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Prices can change, but a price change never takes away anything you’ve already bought.

Your progress

Your progress, streak and outfits are kept on your device, not on our server, and on an iPhone with iCloud turned on, also in your own iCloud, which brings them back on a new iPhone or after you reinstall. We can’t bring them back ourselves: without iCloud, deleting the app deletes them, though your phone’s own backups can restore them.

If the game changes or stops

We work to have a new daily puzzle ready every day, but one can be late or missing now and then. If we ever stop running our server, the daily puzzle will stop with it; the packs you bought are in the app and keep working.

No guarantees

Snow Sleuth is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises about it beyond what these terms say, including that it will always work or be free of mistakes.

Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid for purchases in the game in the 12 months before the problem.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Playing after a change means you accept the new terms.
